With the planting of 100 saplings and the participation of 250 volunteers, King
Abdulaziz University, through its General Administration of Social Responsibility and
Community Service, held the second edition of its afforestation initiative under the
slogan:
“A Hand that Plants, a Land that Flourishes 2”, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026,
within the faculty housing compound.
The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmad Al-Amoudi, Vice President for
Business and Knowledge Creativity.

The initiative falls under the umbrella of the Saudi Green Initiative, aimed at
expanding vegetation cover, encouraging the planting of suitable native species, and
fostering collaboration across public, private, and non-profit sectors. It also activates
the role of volunteerism in advancing environmental and social impact in line with the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030.

Organized as a community-based initiative by the University Housing Administration,
the campaign was carried out in cooperation with the Faculty of Environmental
Sciences, the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, and the General Administration
of Facilities.

Dr. Hamzah bin Hasnain Ahmad, General Director of the General Administration of
Social Responsibility and Community Service, emphasized the university’s
commitment to environmental sustainability and its positive impact on both university
members and the wider community. He noted that the initiative welcomed
participation from faculty members and their families, children, university staff,
students, and members of the public, with all volunteers receiving credited volunteer
hours.

He also confirmed that 100 saplings were planted according to specifications
approved by the General Administration of Facilities, and the total number of
volunteers reached 250 participants.
